Your Treatment
Journey at Emage Vein Centers
Throughout your treatment journey with Emage Vein Centers, you can expect exceptional care backed by honesty and transparency.
Step 1: Initial Consultation
During your first visit to Emage Vein Centers for chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) and varicose vein disease, our providers will request a thorough medical history and perform a comprehensive physical exam. We’ll also take the time to understand your unique concerns and goals for vein treatment, so we can make the best treatment recommendation for your needs.
Step 2: Vein Evaluation and Ultrasound Imaging
As part of your initial consultation, we’ll complete a full evaluation of the venous system in your legs. The process usually includes an ultrasound of the leg veins. Ultrasounds are painless, non-invasive diagnostic imaging performed by expert ultrasonographers.
Step 3: Treatment Recommendations
After our evaluation, we’ll analyze the results and recommend a customized vein treatment plan. Our priority is to ensure you feel included, reassured, and confident in your vein care decisions. Every patient will receive detailed information about what to expect before, during and after treatment, and our team will be there to guide and support you throughout the process.

Facts About Vein Care
When you need relief from CVI, varicose veins and other vascular conditions, Emage is here to help you understand your options and move forward with confidence.
What is chronic venous insufficiency (CVI)?
Chronic venous insufficiency is a medical condition that occurs when the valves that direct blood inside veins stop working properly. It usually affects leg veins. Instead of directing blood upward to the heart, the malfunctioning valves allow blood to flow backward down the vein. This reflux causes blood to accumulate in the veins and increases pressure on the vein walls. As a result, enlarged varicose veins can develop, and they will often worsen over time.
What are varicose veins?
Varicose veins are large, bulging, twisted veins caused by CVI, usually in the legs. They can affect any of the superficial veins near the surface of the skin. They often have a blue or purple hue.
Who is at risk of CVI and varicose veins?
Chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) and varicose vein disease are thought to affect nearly 40% of the population. Most often, they affect those in middle or older age, especially women with multiple pregnancies. Other risk factors may include:
- Smoking
- Obesity
- Reduced mobility
- Prolonged sitting or standing
- Pelvic tumors
- Vascular malformations and infections
Certain genetic or acquired conditions, along with a family history of CVI and varicose veins, may also increase your risk.
What are the symptoms of CVI?
If you have any of the following symptoms affecting your legs, it is important to seek medical attention:
- Varicose veins, which are bluish-purple bulges near the skin’s surface.
- Spider veins that appear as starburst clusters, web-like lines or short, fine lines on the skin’s surface.
- An eczema-like rash
- Deep reddish-brown skin discoloration
- Thickening and hardening of the skin
- Venous stasis ulcers
- Open wounds that fail to heal on their own
- Sudden swelling
- Pain or tenderness
- Warm-feeling skin
- Leg heaviness
- Itchiness
- Restlessness
- Muscle cramps
- Burning or throbbing

Leading the Way
in Vascular Treatments
You don’t need to suffer the discomfort and inconvenience of CVI or varicose veins. Emage Vein Centers offers a variety of low-risk, effective and minimally invasive outpatient treatment options.
Compression Therapy
Compression therapy is often recommended as a first-line, non-invasive vein treatment. Patients with lower extremity pain from leg swelling or enlarged veins wear compression clothing, like stockings, to relieve symptoms or aid ulcer healing.
Ablation Treatments
Ablation treatments are minimally invasive procedures that close abnormal veins and redirect blood into healthy veins for symptom relief. Emage offers several innovative ablation options, including:
- Radiofrequency ablation (RFA): Delivers high-frequency radio waves via a tiny catheter, heating the problem vein and causing its walls to shrink and close.
- VenaSeal™: A small amount of a specially formulated medical adhesive helps seal or close unhealthy veins.
- Varithena™: A concentrated foam solution is used to seal or close malfunctioning veins.
- Sclerotherapy: This common treatment for spider veins uses a tiny needle to inject a liquid or foam solution into the vein, causing it to contract and rerouting blood to normal veins.
Microphlebectomy
This minimally invasive treatment removes portions of varicose veins through tiny, slit-like incisions in the skin that do not require stitches. The procedure requires minimal downtime and only necessitates a local anesthetic.
